CONTE
BIOGRAPHY
Craig Conte’s 2000 solo album was a grand endeavor by the artist to make
a soundtrack for his book Revelations. Although the album did not encompass
the genius of Danny Elfman, at times it did have its Roger Waters’ moments.
New Messiah is probably the most memorable song on the album followed by
20th Century Breakdown then As Judas & Juliet Did, a short acoustic tune on
guitar. Revelations Pts. I, II, & III played by classical pianist, Barbara Wheat,
keeps the theme of the story flowing freely, and the steady drumming of Alan
Blaver carries the weight of the rhythm section. Featured on the album is the
singing ability of Scotland Yard’s, Kim Cahill, and Self Storage’s guitarist and
bassist, Mike Donohue. Overall, Conte’s undertaking is worth a look at by
music fans that enjoy strong lyrics and theme-based musical albums
